Rob Cherepuschak, the 2011 Western Major Baseball League manager of the year, has decided to step down from his role with the team after three seasons as manager.
Cherepuschak decided to step down to spend more time with his wife and three children.

Jagar Toffan of Regina and Jordan Schulz of Strasbourg have been aksed to take part in Baseball Canada’s preliminary roster of players. The camp will be held in St. Petersburg, Flordia, in March, and the two will be part of the junior national team’s spring training alumni week.

Andrew Albers pitches to gold at Pan Am Games
Andrew Albers of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, pitched almost seven innings yesterday as Canada beat the USA 2-1 to win its first gold medal in baseball at the Pan American Games. It was also the first time Canada has won a major international senior tournament. Albers allowed only six hits while striking out eight and not allowing any walks.

Cougar softball team winless in Texas
The Univeristy of Regina Cougars softball team went on a long road trip this weekend to Texas, where they played six games.
They lost to Galveston College 8-0 and 12-2, then to Texas Souther University 7-2, San Jacinto College 8-0, Alvin College 12-0 and Blinn College 14-2.

Team Canada at IBAF World Cup of Baseball
Team Canada, including Dustin Molleken of Regina and Andrew Albers of North Battleford, is competing in the IBAF World Cup of Baseball in Panama.

Cougar women’s softball team splits 4-game series
The University of Regina Cougar women’s softball team played four games this weekend with Dawson College, coming away with two wins.
They won the first game of the series 8-4, lost the second 12-10, won the third 8-6, and lost the fourth 10-2.
They now have a 6-8-2 record, and will play in Saskatoon next weekend against the U of S and Grant MacEwan University.

Cougar softball team has tough weekend
The University of Regina Cougars softball team had a tough weekend, going 0-1-5 at Kaplan Field.
On Saturday, they lost 11-6 to the University of Calgary and 10-2 to Minot State before tying the University of Great Falls 9-9.
On Sunday, they lost 4-3 to Calgary, 7-4 to Monana’s Dawson College, and 11-2 to the University of Saskatchewan.
