Regina Gold 94 win silver
The Regina Gold 94 softball team won a silver medal this weekend at the Saskatcheawn midget A softball championships.
The Gold won in Saskatoon and will next play in Surrey, BC, at this Canadian open fastpitch championships this weekend.

Regina Ladies Softball Association tournament
The Regina Ladies Softball Association tournament begins today and finishes Sunday at Douglas Park. Nineteen teams from Saskatchewan and one from Winnipeg will be divided into four pools. The winner of each game in the round robin receives $25; winners of playoff games receive between $75 and $350.

Sydney Marquardt named third-team all-American
Sydney Marquardt of Regina was named a third-team all-American.
The honour was given by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association. Marquardt, who plays with the St. Thomas Tommies women’s softball team, batted .471 this season with 73 hits and 56 RBI in 48 games. The Tommies went 42-6 and were the NCAA region runner up.

U of R softball awards
The University of Regina Cougars women’s softball club, playing in the Alberta Intercollegiate Women’s Fastball Association, held their awards banquet last night.
Jillian Huber of Lipton was named the Association’s top offensive player, the cougars’ top hitter, and along with Kelsey Gullickson of Regina, was the team playoff MVP.

Regina Gold lose out in playoffs
After three playoff games, the Regina Gold were elminiated from the Easton Foundation Youth World Softball Cup in Plant City, Floriday.
The Gold played three games on Monday, winning one and losing two. They first lost 5-0 to Brazil, getting no hits in the loss.
They then beat Manitoba 10-2. megan Gurski pitched for the win and was 3-for-3 with a home run.

Regina Gold 2-3 in round robin at Youth World Softball Cup
The Regina Gold are participating in the Easton Foundation Youth World Softball Cup in Plant City, Florida. They went 2-3 in the round robin, and will play Brazil today in the playoffs.
The Gold lost Friday, then on saturday first beat Russia 6-2 and then lost to the Colorado All-Stars 4-1.
On Sunday, the Gold lost 4-3 to Ontario Red, and then beat the Easton Caliofrnia Impact 12-0.

U of R Softball team finishes second in national champinships
The University of Regina Cougars softball team lost 5-1 to the University of Saskatchewan Lady Saxons in the national championship this weekend in Saskatoon. Shirrae Muhr pitched for the U of R in the final. Jillian Huber, the U of R’s shortstop, made it onto the tournament all-star team.
