Rob Cherepuschak, the 2011 Western Major Baseball League manager of the year, has decided to step down from his role with the team after three seasons as manager. For the first time in franchise history, the Regina Red Sox are Western Major Baseball League Champions. With a 7-3 win in Game Four, the Red Sox defeated the Okotoks Dawgs 3-1 in the best-of-five WMBL Championship Series on Saturday night. The Okotoks Dawgs staved off elimination on Friday night with a 7-4 win over the Regina Red Sox, forcing a Game Four in the WMBL Championship Series. In front of a record-breaking crowd at Currie Field, the Regina Red Sox moved one step closer to a WMBL Championship on Wednesday night. With 1,230 fans looking on, the Red Sox erased a late deficit and came away with an 8-5 win over the Okotoks Dawgs in Game One of the WMBL Championship Series. The Regina Red Sox booked their tickets to the WMBL Finals with a 4-3 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Saturday night at Ross Wells Park.
