Regina Hornets win Las Vegas Easter Showdown
The Regina Hornets won the under-15 girls division at the Las Vegas Easter Showdown basketball tournament on the weekend. The Hornets beat the Las vegas Elite 51-48 in the final. Britton Belyk and Jennifer Tonia each scored 14 points for the Hornets; Christina McCusker had nine points.

Canada at the Youth Olympics
The Youth Olympics are taking place in Singapore this week, and Regina is represented by Kaylee Halvorson on the women’s 3-on-3 basketball team. The Youth Olympics are for athletes aged 14 to 18.

Saskatchewan basketball teams at the national basketball championship
Aug 8 – The Saskatchewan men’s under-17 team lost a close one, 80-79 yesterday to B.C. in the bronze medal game, giving them fourth place overall. Joe De Ciman scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds. Jeremy Zver scored 17 points, while Matthew Forbes had 14 points and 12 rebounds. De Ciman was named a first-team all-star.

Kaylee Halvorson & Joe De Ciman to play for Canadian teams
Kaylee Halvorson and Joe De Ciman will wear the Team Canada jersey this summer.
Halvorson will play in the FIBA U-17 World Championships with the women’s Canadian Under-17 team in France from July 16th – 26th.
De Ciman will play in the FIBA U-17 World Championships with the men’s Canadian Under-17 team in Germany from July 2nd – 11th.

Doggpound Basketball Training Academy
The Doggpound Basketball Training Academy is holding a summer training camp from Monday until July 19th.
The programs run for 8 weeks, every Tuesday and thursday for an hour, including coaching on specific basketball components. The camp is for both boys and girls aged 12 to 18.

Team Saskatchewan finishes seventh at Canada Games
With a 91-62 win over Alberta, Team Saskatchewan wom the men’s basketball seventh place final. Matthew Campbell of Regina had seven rebounds
The women’s team placed ninth with a 82-45 win over PEI. Jennilea Coppola of Regina had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and a steal.

W.F. Ready and Marion McVeety win public elementary basketball
W.F. Ready beat W.S. Hawrylak 59-35 in the Regina public elementary school boys basketball A final to finish the season. Mitchell Jackson scored 15 points for Ready, while Matt Hughes scored 15 points for Hawrylak.
On the girls side, Marion McVeety beat Ethel Milliken 34-27. Caleigh Ritson had 10 points for McVeety.
