Christine Selinger won a gold medal Thursday at the world canoe and kayak championships in Szeged, Hungary. Selinger won the V1 paranoe LTA 200 metres, which she also won last year. Saskatchewan athletes had strong results at the CanoeKayak Canada national team trials held July 9th and 10th in Montreal, QC.  Kia Byers, of Regina, once again came up with the top place finish in the Senior Women’s K1 200m event.  Byers has placed first in every national level competition in this distance in at least the past two years. Six Saskatchewan sprint canoe/kayak athletes had very strong results at the junior national team trials held June 4 & 5 in Dartmouth, NS. Kia Byers, of Regina, and Aaron Rublee, who lived in Regina before moving to Oakville, Ont, took part in the International Canoe Federation’s World Cup 2 event on the weekend in Racice, Czech Republic.
