Eight Saskatchewan athletes named to CanoeKayak Canada national sprint racing teams

Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that eight Saskatchewan athletes have been named to CanoeKayak Canada’s national sprint racing teams.  Kia Byers of Regina has been named to the senior national team member.  Byers had an outstanding competitive season, representing Canada at the 2010 Senior World Championships and on the World Cup tour in Europe and most recently at the Pan Am Championships... 

Simon Fense medals at Pan Americans

Regina’s Simon Fense won a gold medal and a bronze medal at the Pan American canoe and kayaking championships on the weekend in Mexico City. Fense and Etienne Beauchesne of Quebec won the junior men’s K2 500-metre event. He also won a bronze medal with Beauchesne, Jarret Kenke of Saskatoon, and Brian Malfesi of BC in the men’s K4. Kia Byers wins silver at Pan Ams

Kia Byers of Regina won a silver medal at the Pan Am canoe and Kayak championships on the weekend. Byers won her medal in the women’s K-1 200-metre race in Mexico City on Sunday. With the second place finish, Byers qualified for next year’s Pan Am Games, in Mexico in October of 2011. Those games will be an Olympic qualifying event.  Read More →

Saskatchewan paddlers finish third

Saskatchewan paddlers competed this weekend at the La Classique Internationale de Canots de la Mauricie in Quebec, an event which is the third leg of the Triple Crown of Canoeing. Saskatchewan’s team of Mike Vincent (of Regina) and Ivan English (of Saskatoon) finished in third place out of 62 teams yesterday.  Read More →
