Michelle Englot wins Scotties

Regina’s Michelle Englot won the Scotties Tournament of Hearts this weekend, with a 9-7 win in the final over Stefanie Lawton of Saskatoon. This is Englot’s seventh provincial win. Englot, with her team of Lana Vey, Roberta Materi and Sarah Slywaka, will take part in the national Scotties event from February 18 to 26 in Red Deer. Playdowns determine provincial teams

The sourthern and northern playdowns have qualified teams for the Saskpower Saskatchewan women’s curling championship. Mandy Selzer and her team won 8-4 over Penny Parker of Moose Jaw in the B-event final at the southern playdowns. Junior provincial curling championships in 2012

Kristen Streifel of Saskatoon, with her team of Elyse Lafrance, Brie Splichen and Karlee Korchinski, won the junior women’s provincial curling championship this weekend with a 7-4 win over Brooklyn Lemon, also of Saskatoon. Hicke and Eberle to represent Canada

Dean Hicke and Chantel Eberle will represent Canada at the 2012 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. The Jason Ackerman mixed team represented Saskatchewan and won the 2012 Curling Mixed Curling Championship in November. A pair from the team represents Canada at the World Mixed Doubles in Erzurum, Turkey, April 23rd to 29th. The team decided to play off to determine the representatives. Eberle...

Regina will have three teams on the men’s side and three teams on the womens side at the provincial junior curling championships. Ackermans to face off against Hicke, Eberle

Teammates will become competitors on January 7th and 8th as Jason and Colleen Ackerman will copmete agains Dean Hicke and Chantelle Eberle in a best-of-seven series to determine who will represent Canada at the 2012 world mixed doubles curling championship. Pre-qualified teams announced for men’s provincial championship

The six pre-qualified teams have been named for the 2012 SaskTel Tankard men’s provincial championship.   Berths were awarded from the Saskatchewan Curling Association for six teams, who will take part in the championship from Feb. 1 to 5 in Assiniboia.   Regina’s Scott Bitz and Braeden Moskowy qualified due to their placing in the World Curling Tour.
