Cougar men finish second, women fifth at CIS Wrestling Championships
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The University of Regina’s men’s wrestling team finished in second place and the Cougar women placed fifth as the 2012 CIS Championships wrapped up on Saturday at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Amber Holland, as Team Canada, and Michelle Englot, as Team Saskatchewan, are competing at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts this week.
Holland, of Kronea, is backed by Kim Schneider, Tammy Schneider and Heather Kalenchuk. Englot’s Regina team includes Lana Vey, Roberta Materi and Sarah Slywka.

Regina speed skaters at world all-round championships
Lucas Makowsky and Justin Warsylewicz, both from Regina, took part in the World All-round Championships in Moscow this weekend.
Makowsky was 16th overall in the men’s standing, after skating to ninth in the 500 m, 16th in the 1500 m, and 21st in the 5000 m.
Warsylewicz was 19th overall in the men’s standings. He was 18th in the 500 m, 18th in the 1500 m and 23rd in the 500 m.

Mark McMorris at world snowboarding championships
Mark McMorris of Regina finished in ninth place in men’s slopestyle at the world snowboarding championships in Oslo, Norway.
McMorris earned 36.9 points in the final round, while the gold medal winner posted 87.9.
Next up for McMorris is the Burton European Open, beginning Saturday in Laax, Switzerland.

Reuben Ross qualifies for Olympics
Reuben Ross of Pilot Butte have come closer to competing in the men’s three-metre synchronized diving event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Ross will dive with Alexandre Despatie; they earned one of four available berths at the FINA World Cup event in London. They now earn the right to compete at the Canadian Olympic trials, which are held in May in Montreal.

RHSAA Wrestling League Female Championship
In the RHSAA Wrestling Female Championship last night, Campbell beat Knoll 36-23 in the first semi-final while O’Neill beat Miller 46-13 in the second.
