Regina runners race Maui Oceanfront marathon

Four Regina runners completed the Maui Oceanfront marathon on the weekend. Laverne Masur finished third in the men’s 35-39 age group with a time of three hours, 15 minutes and 1 second, which was also ninth place overall. Simon Bairu misses qualifying standard

Regina’s Simon Bairu finished in sixth place at the Houston Marathon on Sunday, running the 42.2 km in two hours, 19 minutes and 52 seconds. Bairu was attempting to qualify for Canada’s Olympic team as a marathon runner, but needed a time of 2:11:29 – the Canadian Olympic standard – to qualify. Kathryn Rachar second in Peanut Island 24

Kathryn Rachar of Regina finished in second place in the women’s 50-59 age cateogry at the Peanut Island 24, which is a 24-ultramarathon in Peanut Island, Florida. Rachar was 26th overall (out of 55), and ran 103 in the 24-hour time limit. It was her first ultra marathon.  Read More →

Cure for the Brrr held Jan. 2

The annual Cure for the Brrr was held by Marathon Matters yesterday, in -28 windchill. Conor Renoug once again won the men’s marathon in 3 hours, 19 minutes and 38 seconds. Jennifer Ruland won the women’s marathon in 4:35:57. Mike Sali was the winner of the men’s half-marathon in 1:39:55, while Laurie Campbell won the women’s side in 2:10:19. Full results are below. Simon Bairui wins Miami Rock and Roll Half

Regina’s Simon Bairu won the Ford Miami Beach Rock and Roll Half-Marathon on Sunday. He won in one hour, five minutes and 38 seconds. Bairu will run the Houston Marathon on January 15th, where he will look to run the Olympic Standard time of 2:11:29. Regina runners win Saskatchewan Ultramarathon

Regina runners took away top awards at the Saskatchewan Ultramarathon 50-kilometre race in Saskatoon on the weekend. Conor Renouf won the men’s division for the third straight year in three hours, 44 minutes and 16 seconds. Brent Young was third in 3:53:00 and Gary Thiel was fourth in 3:57:27. Jennifer Ruland of White City won the women’s division in four hours, 30 minutes and 10 seconds.... 

Regina-area runners at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon

Two Regina-area runners qualified for the Boston Marathon while running at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday. Gerry Nagy of Weyburn ran a time of two hours, 52 minutes, and four seconds, finishing fifth int he men’s 45-49 age group. Basil Pappas of Regina ran a time of three hours, 10 minutes, and 58 seconds to finish 37th in the men’s 40-44 age category.  Read More →

Two Regina runners took part in the Grizz 50-mile foorace in Hungry Horse, Montana on Saturday. Conor Renouf was sixth overall in the men’s division, while Jennifer Ruland was seveth overall on the women’s side.  Read More →

The Regina Roadrunners held their Flatlanders Road Race on Saturday, which included 5K, 10K, and 21K distances. Results (top 3 finishers) are as follows: 21K Men 19&U 1.
